TEXT and WORD LIST: LRRH_text_words

Working plan:
– Make a word book.
– Write ”Little Red Riding Hood” on page one.
– Make a word list, 10 words with each page. Talk about each word and translate.
– Read the text, page 1, aloud.
– Make a read-aloud with students, sentence by sentence.
– Let students read the text two-and-two.
– Let your students ”pratöversätta” texten.

Extra:
– Play the game ”In-Other-Words” (100 words from the text).
– Make coloring pictures and talk about them.
– Make a word test every third page.

Summary
This is a good way to teach the students about reading-skills. We start with a classic fairy tale that most of my students know from before. I read aloud, my students follow me and read aloud and they read aloud two and two. One page in focus each lesson, and ten words. We’re building  vocabulary with our word book. Each lesson starts with repetition – ”Read through your word book, all chapters”.
